So, my wonderful roommate is fond of the "Will Smith pose" and suggested it during this photoshoot. It ended up being one of my favorite photos from the shoot. I got three different photos like this that weekend thanks to my roomie; she's great. xD
Setsucon came and went again. Things went pretty smoothly in my department this year (could've been worse anyways), but I'm stepping down from my position since I'll be doing my student teaching that time next year so I'll be much to busy. I'll still try to go as an attendee though if I'm free that weekend.
I finally sat down and started Gintama in January. I'd been telling myself forever that I'd watch it eventually and even tried starting the first episode at some point, but the length of the series was really intimidating. Well, I finally started it and finished the entire anime (just in time for the new season too) and fell absolutely in love with the series. If you haven't seen Gintama yet, do yourself a favor and go watch it!
Katsu re-cap Anywho, I obviously went to Katsucon back in February and was so thrilled to debut my Sailor Moon cosplay that I was pretty much working on up until Thursday night before the con. I grew up with Sailor Moon so it was an absolute dream come true to finally cosplay her; young me would so happy.
I also debuted another last-minute cosplay at Katsucon. My sister and I had been planning on cosplay as Kei Yuki and Tadashi Daiba from Space Pirate Captain Harlock eventually, but less than two weeks before the con I went to my sister and asked if she wanted to do that for Katsucon. So I ended up making both of those quickly right before the con. We didn't really get any good photos of those since they ended up being our night-time cosplays, but we had a lot of fun in the few hours we did get to wear those.
I also wore Hakuryuu Ren as part of the Magi group my roommate organized (still waiting on the pictures from our group photoshoot and I'm excited to finally see those). On Sunday I wore Sophie again for a Ghibli group my friends and I organized, and we were even joined by a few other people so we had a pretty good turnout of Ghibli cosplayers. I was also really happy to get tons of great photos with an absolutely gorgeous Howl. *w* <3 (If I remember, I'll upload some of those too.)
Overall, Katsucon was a blast this year! I roomed with some great people and had a terrific time.
Next con of the year is Otakon! Still can't decide what I'm wearing to that, but I've still got time to think about. The one definite for now is good 'ole Gin from Gintama. I'm going out to buy my fabric for that tomorrow and my sister is getting her fabric for Kagura. Pray for me when I have to paint those damn swirls. I'm going to visit my family over the summer so I'm really looking forward to seeing them all again.
